Arrival in Kuala Lumpur

Thanks M and Q for the good send off! Another first - never needed to catch a train to immigration and baggage reclaim before. Finally got here at 9.15pm. Shattered. If I struggle to sleep in our lovely comfy bed at home I had no chance on the plane.Having said that,Air Malaysia was good - far better than Emirates. Food was really enjoyable. We had sustained ourselves with our own "picnic" during the 7 hours at Heathrow. We flew in to Terminal 5 and looked out for spare luggage but they have obviosly cleared the backlog!
Hot on arrival at K.L. As we didn't have steamer trunks (miss you Donnie and Cath!) we decided to try to work out the way to get to the hotel by bus. We did. Total cost £1.40 as opposed to the £20 a  taxi was quoting. Not that we're cheapskates - just prioritising what to spend our money on.

We're now settled in our residential cupboard with ensuite. It's the Malaysian equivalent to Travelodge and incredible value. Shades of the love hotels in Tokyo where you rent the room by the hour. We rented this for 12 hours but will actually only need it for just under 8 hours.

It's now 10.10pm and our flight leaves for Siem Reap at 6.50am. Bed I think - was it Puck who said "Perchance to dream"? I'd settle for sleep. I'll add a photo of the sign in the ensuite - just in case we didn't know how to shower!

  1. Glad you've made it safely that far - love the shower instructions!! Im wondering whether you could bring them back for kids in the hope of preventing the swimming pool effect!!!

    1. The shower was fantastic Gillie. The instructions called it a power shower. Not sure if I'd go that far but it was a super strong floor soaking jet.
